Boulder Creek in winter? You bet. While this little gem of a stream isn’t exactly prime-time water this time of year, it **still produces fish**—if you know where to look. The creek **twists and turns through the foothills**, offering a mix of deep plunge pools, pocket water, and slow tailouts where winter trout **hibernate, yet still need to eat**. Plus, with the stunning Flatirons as your backdrop, it’s hard to complain—even when your guides freeze up.

The key here is **small flies, light tippet, and a stealthy approach**. Trout are **stacked in slower, deeper sections**, hugging the bottom for warmth. While dry fly fishing is nearly nonexistent, **nymphing small midges and Baetis patterns** will keep the rod bent. If you’re feeling bold, a **tiny streamer stripped through deep pockets** might get an aggressive reaction.
